GEO/Jang Group shameful tactics – by M Usama Kabbir

by admin

I just happened to visit the GEO-News website this evening and was quite startled to see something ! At a glace nothing looks wrong. But if we look carefully (I have encircled the text in red), while all other news headlines are fully complete and give the reader no ambiguity, the one referring to the FIA Investigations into Benazir Bhutto Murder reads:

‘Benazir Bhutto case, Rehman Malik, killed’.

There is no issue of space, as the headline above this one is almost ‘twice’ as long. Moreover, the headline could read ‘Benazir Bhutto case: FIA Investigations’. But we see a deliberate and engineered attempt by the GEO/Jang group here. The purpose behind formulating such a headline can very well be understood. GEO/Jang group has been a ‘Loyal’ tool of the Military Establishment in diverting the investigation of Benazir Bhutto’s Murder from the very first day. They have been busy creating an opinion among the viewers and the raders that Benazir Bhutto was killed by Asif Ali Zardari/Rehman Malik/Babar Awan. Which is actually meant to exempt the Military Establishment, the ISI, MI and the GHQ. GEO/Jang group has been advocating the case of ISI for long. Since the UN Report on Benazir Bhutto’s murder came out, Kamran Khan and Hamid Mir have done several sittings to negate the UN Report and endorse the theory that Benazir Bhutto fell prey to elements within the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party.

Kamran Khan, Hamid Mir and their brother Journalists on other Private Television Channels have been belligerent, blaming the PPP and of course Asif Ali Zardari for Benazir Bhutto’s murder. Before the FIA Investigations even started and well before the UN Investigations even kicked off:

1. Did these journalists ever invite CPO Saud Aziz and SP Khurram Shahzad to explain their role in hosing down the crime scene and not allowing Benazir Bhutto a postmortem?

2. Did these ‘Saintly-Patriotic Jiyala’ Journalists ever call Dr. Mossadiq to explain how he changed his statements within hours?

PS: By the way, none of them have reported that Dr Mossadiq has gone to America without seeking permission from the Government !

3. Did these journalists ever invite serving ISI officials to fully explain their case in Benazir Bhutto’s Assassination?

Rehman Malik/Babar Awan’s Media trial has been the main focus, which eventually is intended to embed in the minds of viewers that Asif Ali Zardari was behind the assassination.

To GEO/Jang group and their brother journalists:

We the PPP Jiyalas by now have a comprehensive understanding of our ‘Serial Killers’.Hum Zakham dekh kar pehchan letay hain waar kiss haath nay kiya hai. Aaadat si jo hogaee hai.

  2. Geo and Jang group are busy in one-sided and baseless stories, analysis and editorials against the PPP government. Whether the ongoing one-sided and biased journalism is correct and useful for democracy and the country, obliviously not! PPP had rightly decided to boycott the Jang Group after tolerating it for two-and-a-half year. PPP had rendered great sacrifices for democracy, independent judiciary and press freedom, and one hopes that it would continue the struggle in the future. A common man criticizes Jang Group only for its policies and people claimed the same group was hatching failed conspiracies against the PPP-led government. It tried to entangle President Zardari, PM Gilani and the army chief, he added. International law provides immunity to Zardari and the opening of Swiss cases against him is out of question.
