Yesterday, Pakistan Blogzine (PB) published a guest post by an Indian blogger Ankur Desai evaluating Raza Rumi’s appreciation of Hamid Mir as “a brave journalist who continues his great father’s legacy in journalism”.
However, I am amazed to see the ferocious reaction in the aftermath of the guest post. Instead of acknowledging and tolerating the critical post, both Raza Rumi (liberal for some, pseudo-liberal for others) and Hamid Mir (a well known Taliban apologist, right-winger) started a joint campaign against me on Twitter, describing me as a sub-human species, internet virus and Pakistan army’s agent (establishment plant).
Raza Rumi @Razarumi
Laibaah, an establishment planted internet virus, is attacking me for praising @HamidMirGeo’s brave television shows in recent weeks.
Hamid Mir @HamidMirGEO
@Razarumi may Allah save Pakistan from this virus infecting political diseases all the time
Hamid Mir @HamidMirGEO
dont be afraid from liberals, religious extremists and from agents of secret agencies only care about those who are on right path
In fact Raza Rumi took a step further and started attacking and abusing other blogs and Tweeples resorting to dangerous stereotypes and generalizations based on sect or ethnicity. He also granted the omnipotent and omnipresent status to yours truly Laibaah by suggesting that every critical post on (pseudo-)liberal elites on all Pakistani blogs is written by me. I would happily accept the compliment but am afraid it might offend the actual authors of various posts being misattributed to me.
To Raza Rumi and Hamir Mir, I have this much to say. You are very welcome to criticize and disagree with me, at least remain civil. Ad hominem attacks on me may be seen as an attempt to deflect valid criticism.
zuban bigrio so bigri thi khabar leejay dahan bigra
Once Raza Rumi and Hamid Mir find a free moment from urgent issues such as attacking and abusing me, can I also remind them to break the mainstream media’s silence on the Shia massacre in Chilas at the hands of Pakistan army-backed Jihadi-sectarian militants?
