Pakistan’s self acclaimed liberal, columnist and rights activist Marvi Sirmed has written an article in Express Tribune (18 June 2012) to prove that the alleged list of Malik Riaz’s beneficiaries is fake, and that along with other “credible journalists”, her name too does not deserve to be in that notorious list.
While I have no means to confirm or challenge the authenticity of the Riaz Malik’s beneficiaries list, in this post, I seek to offer some quick comments on Marvi’s article which is

(The Following post was written by me for Pak Tea House and was even published today. To my utter surprise, there was a pandemonium created after this by people who are mentioned in this post and Raza Rumi, an otherwise reasonable person, couldn’t stand up to his own ideals and removed the post. That was an act of shameful capitulation in face of some “brouhaha” by some soul-less media personnel. I refuse to remain silent

Yesterday, Pakistan Blogzine (PB) published a guest post by an Indian blogger Ankur Desai evaluating Raza Rumi’s appreciation of Hamid Mir as “a brave journalist who continues his great father’s legacy in journalism”.
However, I am amazed to see the ferocious reaction in the aftermath of the guest post. Instead of acknowledging and tolerating the critical post, both Raza Rumi (liberal for some, pseudo-liberal for others) and Hamid Mir (a well known Taliban apologist, right-winger) started a

We are very disappointed to see misrepresentation of Shia genocide in Pakistan in at least four articles in the current issue of The Friday Times (March 02-08, 2012 – Vol. XXIV, No. 03).
Clearly, authors and editors at TFT have taken lead from their Editor in Chief Najam Sethi who himself was found misrepresenting Shia genocide in Pakistan only a few days ago on Geo TV’s Aapas Ki Baat (Talk Show). The details can be read at the following link: http://criticalppp.com/archives/73439
In addition to misinterpreting and misrepresenting the anti-Ahmadiyya legislation at least in one article by Raza Rumi (discussed next), TFT also published a misleading piece

Two key events took places in Karachi a few days ago (12 Feb 2012): Difa-e-Pakistan Conference (DPC) attended by about 50,000 Jihadi-sectarian militants and the Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) attended by dozens of English and Urdu authors, journalists and other participants (estimated number 800).
Both of these events signify all what is wrong with Pakistan today. Both groups (DPC and KLF) remain
