There is enough evidence to suggest that the former Saudi-resident Tarek Fatah was deeply anti-Israel and anti-Semitic until 2006 after which he acclimatized to his new country, Canada and changed his antisemitism to phobia of Shias, Ahmadis and other communities to promote the interests of the Saudi lobby. As a part of his new role, Tarek Fatha routinely obfuscates the Salafi Wahhabi and Deobandi identity of Taliban, Sipah-e-Sahaba, Al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorists, presenting them as Sunnis, hiding the fact that Salafi Wahhabi and Deobandi terrorists have not only killed thousands of Shias but also thousands of Sunni Sufis and Christians. Tarek Fatah was also active in false propaganda against Bahrain’s pro-democracy movement and indirectly supported the Saudi invasion of Bahrain.
Former Saudi-resident Tarek Fatah hides his real Islamist name Tariq Fatah (Tariq the Conqeurer of Spain). Probably because of his past Saudi Salafi connection, he is frequently subject to high security screening at the US airports.
It may be recalled that Fatah was a resident of Saudi Arabia for many years, after his handlers encouraged him to migrate to promote Saudi interests in Canada and the USA. His anti-Shia stance suggests that he is deeply indoctrinated by Abd al-Aziz ibn Abd Allah ibn Baaz and other Salafi Wahhabi clerics of Saudi Arabia. Consistent with Salafi Wahhabi practice of takfir (declaring other Muslims as infidels), Tarek Fatah declares Hazrat Abu Talib, the first Muslim and the beloved uncle of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as an infidel.
Even aftr relocating to Canada, Tarek couldn’t overcome his antisemitism. The Muslim Canadian Congress, which Tarek Fatah founded and led till late 2006, supported the campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel in May 2006. The Congress also compared Israeli policies to South African apartheid.

The MCC is a grassroots organization that supports the aspirations and dreams of the peoples of the developing countries throughout the world; a dream of dignity, democracy, freedom from poverty and political oppression, and a just and lasting peace. To achieve this and resist the steady re-colonization of the developing world, the MCC works closely with like-minded groups in building an anti-imperialist movement.
We now understand that CUPE is coming under pressure to reverse its decision, but we urge you not to compromise or backdown from a position that reflects character, integrity and solidarity with a disenfranchised people.
The CUPE resolution comes on the heels of other notable and courageous symbolic actions of solidarity from the various corners of world. As you may be aware, a lecturers’ union in the United Kingdom voted this week to boycott Israeli academics and institutions that refuse to publicly condemn Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories.
Members of the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education, Britain’s largest university and college lecturers’ union with 67,000 members, has decided not to submit articles to Israeli research papers and exchange programmes with Israeli academic institutions involved directly or indirectly in Israeli apartheid policies.
The CUPE resolution can be equated in its moral symbolism with the International Court of Justice in The Hague 2004 ruling that said the separation barrier Israel was illegal and ought to be dismantled.
The resolution represents the hope in a world that is becoming defined by occupation, oppression and force. But like other apartheid states in the past, for example, South Africa, Israel too will have to be subjected to intense international pressure before it recognizes Palestinians as people with the right to their own viable sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
As stated so eloquently by Desmond Tutu in The Guardian last year, “Israel will never get true security and safety through oppressing another people. A true peace can ultimately be built only on justice. We condemn the violence of suicide bombers, and we condemn the corruption of young minds taught hatred; but we also condemn the violence of military incursions in the occupied lands, and the inhumanity that won’t let ambulances reach the injured.”
As you come under intense pressure from the pro-Israel lobby to back down on this principled stance, we don’t need to remind you that it has historically been a role and a responsibility of the trade union movement to be on the side of the disenfranchised, the voiceless and the oppressed and to stand for justice, freedom, and self-determination.
We ask that you not heed to this pressure and remind you of the words of Archbishop Tutu:
“But you know as well as I do that, somehow, the Israeli government is placed on a pedestal [in the US ], and to criticise it is to be immediately dubbed anti-semitic, as if the Palestinians were not semitic. I am not even anti-white, despite the madness of that group. And how did it come about that Israel was collaborating with the apartheid government on security measures?
People are scared in this country [the US ], to say wrong is wrong because the Jewish lobby is powerful – very powerful. Well, so what? For goodness sake, this is God’s world! We live in a moral universe. The apartheid government was very powerful, but today it no longer exists. Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Pinochet, Milosevic, and Idi Amin were all powerful, but in the end they bit the dust.”

Also this is what Tarek Fatah wrote in 2005 by equating Iran’s intolerant President Ahmadinejad with the State of Israel and also by indirectly supporting Saddam Hussain, the killer of thousands of Shia Muslims and Kurds:

Tarek Fatah could not hide his anti-Israel nature in his book “The Jew is not my enemy” when he blamed the victim by blaming Israel for anti-Semitism. Fatah wrote:
“Is Israel fueling anti-Semitism? “Yes,” he writes. Israel must end its “illegal” and “immoral” occupation of Palestinian territory and push for a Palestinian state alongside Israel.”

On the weekend, the Ontario wing of Canada’s largest trade union, CUPE passed a resolution to support an international campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel.
Delegates to the Canadian Union of Public Employees convention voted overwhelmingly to support the campaign until Israel recognizes the Palestinian right to self-determination.

Now the union is coming under pressure to change its position.
The Muslim Canadian Congress has written to CUPE president Syd Ryan, thanking him for his courage and urging him to stand firm and not succumb to the pressures coming from supporters of Israel.

It may be noted that while Tarek Fatah and his anti-Semitic colleagues were ever ready with their selective morality on Israel, they never demanded a similar morality and resolution to boycott Saudi and Iraqi products etc to demonstrated their displeasure at the massacre of Shias by Saudi king and Iraq’s dictator Saddam Hussain.
Therefore, no wonder that despite one’s reservations about some of the analyses by Ali Sina, one has to agree with Sina on his comments on Tarek Fatah. Ali Sina wrote:
Mr. Tarek Fatah proves my point that there is no such thing as moderate Muslim. He calls himself hardened secular, but fractures when he hears a historic truth. So much for this hardness! When he says, “Wafa Sultan’s hatred of Islam was cultivating the very forces she claims to be exposing,” he is talking about himself. Many honest Muslims prefer not to hide their heads in the sand; they face the truth and deal with it in a rational way. I would like to remind the readers that virtually all Muslim terrorists come from a secular background. At one point they were just as “liberal” as Mr. Fatah is today until something happened in their lives and they turned to their faith.

Tarek Fatah, as has been revealed in his latest comments, is engaged in, among other things, a propaganda jihad against Islam critics. This is contributing to the spread and maintenance of Islam. Another large group of Muslims, a group which overlaps with the propaganda jihadists, engages in denial and deflection regarding the major problems in Islam. Tarek Fatah is also in this category. Another group of Muslims, which constitutes only a small percentage (perhaps 10% worldwide), are secular, are basically only nominal Muslims, and oppose sharia (at least on opinion polls).
