Jang Group (The News) retracts its ISI-inspired report on Haideri Taliban

by admin

Pakistan Blogzine was a part of a recent effort along with Shia activists and other rights activists in highlighting the Jang Group’s unprofessional and malicious conduct in publishing an ISI-inspired report about an imaginary Shia terrorist group namely Haideri Taliban or Mehi Militia.

We are pleased to report that as an outcome of our collective efforts, Jang Group (The News) has retracted the news item and published and apology.

This small incident shows that every single post, tweet, and email counts. Let’s carry on with our activism in support of the persecuted, target killed and ignored communities.

We warn Pakistan army and its

While Pakistan’s powerful urban elites (military establishment and their affiliates in socio-economically advantaged families of Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad) are celebrating Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Academy Award for her documentary about acid attack victims in Pakistan, ordinary Pakistanis have a different view.

Pakistani filmmaker and first-time Oscar nominee Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy won an Academy Award on Monday 27 Feb 2012 for her documentary about acid attack victims, a first for a Pakistani director. According to her

Kidnapped and forgotten sons of Parachinar – by Sibth-ul-Hassan Turi

by admin

Last month, the fake story of Shams Ul Anwer went viral on social media and caught the attention of well known human right activists and media spoke people. Once again Pakistanis united in supporting the victim before realizing it was all concocted drama. Rather than being totally disappointed, it gave me slight hope that, perhaps, despite that the story was fake, it did capture the collective imagination, and there are hundreds of similar stories in reality. For the last four five years, the people of FATA and Kurram Agency, in particular, have been worse victims of

Haideri Taliban? ISI and Jang Group’s joint propaganda against Pakistan’s Shia Muslims

This report about imaginary ‘Haideri Taliban’ was brought to you by Rahimullah Yusufzai of ISI+Jang Group: http://www.thenews.com.pk/TodaysPrintDetail.aspx?ID=94508&Cat=7

As Bureau Chief of The News, Peshawar, Rahimullah Yusufzai has refused to retract his ISI-inspired lies about Haideri Taliban.

We condemn Pakistan army/Jang group’s attempt to misattribute the Taliban-ASWJ-AQ terrorism to innocent Shia Muslims.

Haideri Taliban aka Mehdi Militia is an imaginary creation of General Kayani and Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman.

ISI has tasked Mir Shakil, CEO of the Jang Group, to obfuscate the silent Shia genocide taking place in

Adiala angels, Baloch bodies and Punjabi conscience — by Abbas Zaidi

by admin

The difference between the Adiala Seven and the hundreds of Sangats is that the former are Punjabis and Deobandis and the latter are Baloch and secular. The Punjabi conscience is hurt when a Punjabi is tortured even if he belongs to a terrorist organisation

Balochistan continues to be shaped by the state’s dominant narrative – by Mahvish Ahmad

by admin

News on Balochistan continues to be shaped by the state’s dominant narrative: Of a province that is, and always has been, rightfully Pakistani. But a cursory look at a Baloch version of events – rarely if ever (re)presented in the Pakistani media – paints another picture. A picture not of agreements and friendship. But of betrayal.

Abdul Wahab Baloch is afraid to talk on the phone. In 2008, he was picked up by security agencies after leading a rally through Karachi protesting the 10th anniversary of Chagai-I – the notorious

Dear Express Tribune, they are Shia too! – by Mustafa

by admin

While it is certainly commendable that Express Tribune (ET) has reported the protest demo organized by the youth of Parachinar, time when majority of the news outlets have with blithe disregard ignored it (as usual, for example this largest protest against target killing of Shias was blacked out by Pakistani media: criticalppp.com/archives/72401), the reporter, or perhaps the editor of ET needs to be reminded that the people of Parachinar are Shia too! At least 49 Shia Muslims were massacred by ISI-backed Haqqani Taliban (good Taliban) and the subsequent firing by Pakistan army/FC on 17 February 2012.

The news report refers to people
